There are many organizations around the world that work to protect your privacy. They provide valuable information and resources that allow you to gain knowledge and also remind you that the fight to take back your privacy is not a job that has to be done alone. Here are several prominent organizations that fight for your privacy rights.
1.) Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) - Created in 1990, the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) is a global nonprofit that focuses on "defending civil liberties in the digital world.", with their base being located in the U.S.
2.) Privacy International - Also created in 1990, Privacy International is a U.K.-based registered charity that works "to promote the human right of privacy throughout the world."
3.) noyb - An abbreviation for "none of your business," noyb is an Austrian-based non-profit organization that works "to enforce data protection laws, in particular the GDPR and the ePrivacy Directive."
4.) Fight for the Future - Founded in 2011, Fight for the Future is a nonprofit advocacy group that “harness the power of the Internet to channel outrage into action, defending our most basic rights in the digital age.”
5.) European Digital Rights (EDRi) - The EDRi is a collective of “NGOs, experts, advocates and academics working to defend and advance digital rights across the continent.”
6.) Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC) - Established in 1994, their mission is to “secure the fundamental right to privacy in the digital age for all people through advocacy, research, and litigation.”
7.) EngageMedia - Founded in 2005, EngageMedia is a nonprofit that “promotes digital rights, open and secure technology, and social issue documentary” in the Asia-Pacific.
