Use Cryptomator To Secure Your Cloud
It's really easy to setup
Your cloud storage is not as private and secure as you think. Most cloud storage will only encrypt your data when in transmission; it does not cover the client side. This means your data could be viewed and accessed by cloud providers and hackers, which reduces the privacy and security of your information.
You can always switch to more privacy-focused cloud providers such as Proton Drive, Filen, or Nextcloud, but if you’re not interested in investing the time and money to make that change, there is another option.
Cryptomator is a free and open source tool that allows you to end-to-end encrypt your cloud storage yourself. How it works is you simply create a password for your folder, or “vault,” that’s within your cloud. That’s it! This encrypts your cloud, meaning only you have the keys to the vault and only you know what’s in there. Cloud providers, hackers, and governments will be unable to view, access, sell, or train their AI on your data.
The best part of Cryptomator is that you can keep your cloud provider, as it’s compatible with most cloud providers. That includes Google Drive, OneDrive, iCloud, Dropbox, and more.
Cryptomator is free for Windows, Mac, and Linux, and a paid version for iOS and Android is available. If you enjoy the product and would like to support its development, consider making a donation!
Until Next Time,
